DUI Crash Resulted In Injuries

Valley Springs, CA – A solo-vehicle wreck on Highway 12 in the Valley Springs area sent a passenger to the hospital and the driver to jail.

The crash happened Monday around 6:15 p.m. along the highway just west of Highway 26 and Toyon Circle. The CHP reports that Theresa Doughty, 53, of Valley Springs was drunk behind the wheel of a 2002 Chevy heading westbound on 12 at about 55 mph when she crossed into the oncoming traffic lane. Doughty then swerved back into her lane but lost control of the vehicle while crossing the double-yellow lines for a second time and smashing into a dirt embankment. The vehicle came to rest blocking both lanes of the highway.

Her front seat lone passenger Louie Miranda, 67, of Valley Springs was taken via ambulance to Mark Twain Medical Center suffering moderate injuries.  Doughty was also treated for minor injuries and subsequently arrested for suspicion of driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.
