Update: Vegetation Fire In Calaveras County Contained

Update at 2:30 p.m.: Cal Fire reports the vegetation fire in the Vallecito area has been contained at five acres. Crews remain on scene mopping up and investigators are analyzing the scene to determined what sparked the blaze in the 8300 block of Airola Ranch Road off Parrotts Ferry Road near New Melones Lake in Calaveras County.

Original at 1:40 p.m.: Vallecito, CA — Firefighters are on the scene of a vegetation fire in the Vallecito area of Calaveras County.

Cal Fire reports that it may be an escaped debris burn in the area of 8300 Airola Ranch Road off Parrotts Ferry Road near New Melones Lake. Cal Fire spokesperson Lindy Shoft reports the fire is an acre in size and moving at a slow rate of spread. It was unclear if any structures are threatened at this time. We will bring you more information as soon as it comes into the news center.
