Paving Planned On Yosemite’s Big Oak Flat Road

Yosemite, CA — Big Oak Flat Road in Yosemite National Park will be closed for a short period next week so that crews can repave the section that was damaged this past winter.

The closure will run from this coming Monday at 9pm until Tuesday morning at 5am. Paving will then continue throughout the day on Tuesday and Wednesday, with single lane closures, and up to 15-minute delays.

Big Oak Flat Road was closed in early February as the atmospheric river weather events gave new life to an underground spring, causing saturated heavy soils under the road to slide downhill. An estimated 200 ft. of roadway was damaged. It reopened to vehicle traffic on May 1st.
