Sonora Sets Public Hearing For Food Court Proposal

Sonora, CA — Plans to rezone the property at 15 Pesce Way in Sonora will be reviewed by the Sonora City Council on May 1st.

Yesterday the City of Sonora formally scheduled a public hearing to be held during the Monday regular session meeting that will get underway at 5pm. On April 10 the City of Sonora Planning Commission recommended the city council approve the rezoning and correlating environmental documents submitted by developer Jaykay Properties, which also owns the adjacent AM/PM mini mart. The meeting drew high interest, and the chambers, which seats 60, had residents spilling out into the hallway. Around 20 people spoke about the project, and it was mix of both for and against.  The May 1st City Council meeting will be open to the public.

The 3,700 sq. ft. food court would be built where a former auto dealership building still stands.
