Don Pedro Releases Creating High Waters Elsewhere

Don Pedro, CA — Water releases out of Don Pedro Reservoir may continue over the next week, according to the Turlock Irrigation District.

The maximum capacity of the reservoir is 830 ft. and this morning it sits at 829.5 ft.

The water releases out of the emergency spillway are running at 16,000 cubic ft. per second. TID is requesting to continue the releases, maintaining the current flow, until Don Pedro Reservoir reaches 815 ft. The district is still awaiting a response from the US Army Corps. of Engineers. If granted, it will take 8-10 days to drop to the desired level.  The move is designed to create enough space at Don Pedro Reservoir to accommodate future storms and inflow.

There has been some isolated flooding in Stanislaus County resulting from the releases.
