Update: Major Outages In Mother Lode

Update at 7:30 p.m.: The power has been restored to 2,477 customers stretching from Confidence to Long Barn along Highway 108. Nearly 1,900 in the Cold Springs, Pinecrest, Strawberry and Bumblebee area remain without lights. The company gives a restoration time of 7 a.m. Saturday for those customers. Nearly 500 customers in the Phoenix Lake, Cedar Ridge and Twain Harte area remain without power. Additionally, 600 customers in the Tuolumne City area are in the dark along Cherokee, Tuolumne, Apple Colony, Lodge and Yosemite roads stretching to Main Street and Fir Avenue. There is no estimate repair time posted for these outages.

In Calaveras County,  391 customers that had been without lights since just after 3 p.m. in the Copper Cove Subdivision along Signal Hill Trail and Kiva Drive in the Copperopolis area have had their power restored. The lights have been out since this morning for another 53 customers near Mountain Ranch along Rimrock Valley and Swiss Ranch roads with no restoration time available.

The company attributed the windy weather or fallen trees for knocking down or impacting electrical equipment for most of the outages.

Update at 6:15 p.m.: Mother Nature kept PG&E crews busy in the Mother Lode.

Crews area making progress on a major power outage in Tuolumne County along Highway 108. Originally, nearly 10,000 residents were without power. The lights just went back on for all but 2,477 customers out of the initial 8,196 without electricity since just before 4 p.m. The company has not posted an estimated repair time or cause. The CHP has reported several downed trees in the area.  A restoration time of 7 a.m. Saturday has been give by PG&E for 1,689 customers stretching from Cold Springs to Bumblebee. The company reports major equipment failure is to blame for that outage. 134 customer in the Cedar Ridge area are without power since just before 6 p.m.

In Calaveras County, 391 customers are remain without lights since just after 3 p.m. in the Copper Cove Subdivision along Signal Hill Trail and Kiva Drive in the Copperopolis area.  The lights have been out since this morning for another 53 customers near Mountain Ranch along Rimrock Valley and Swiss Ranch roads.

The utility has no word on a cause or estimated time of repair for these outages.

Update at 5:25 p.m.: Many residents along Highway 108 have been impacted by power outages, including a new one affecting 1,689 customers stretching from Cold Springs to Bumblebee. (Please see below for a listing of all the current outages in the Mother Lode.)

Update at 4:50 p.m.: In Tuolumne County, a major power outage is impacting 8,196 customers from the Twain Harte area to above Long Barn. The CHP is reporting two downed trees in the area. A PGE crew is heading to the scene but there is no word on a restoration time. Additionally, 600 customers in the Tuolumne City area are in the dark along Cherokee, Tuolumne, Apple Colony, Lodge and Yosemite roads stretching to Main Street and Fir Avenue. Outages are also impacting 27 customers in the Phoenix Lake-Cedar Ridge area on Old Oak Ranch Road; 38 in the Groveland area between Hells Hollow and Wagner Ridge roads off Highway 120; also 68 customers out of initially 104 customers along La Grange and Bonds Flat roads, west of Lake Don Pedro.

In Calaveras County, 391 customers are without lights in the Copper Cove subdivision along Signal Hill Trail and Kiva Drive in Copperopolis.

The utility has no word on a cause or estimated time of repair for these outages.

In Tuolumne County, 34 customers in the Tuolumne City area are in the dark along Mt. Eaton and Providence Mine roads. There is no word on a cause of estimated time of repair.

Update at 3:30 p.m.:  In Tuolumne County, 27 customers in the Phoenix Lake-Cedar Ridge area on Old Oak Ranch Road have had their lights restored.

In Calaveras County, power has returned for 286 customers near the La Contenta Golf Course in Valley Springs, off Highway 26 along New Hogan Dam and Vista Del Largo Drive. The company reports the cause was damage to a power pole.

Update at 3 p.m.: Crews are getting a handle on a major outage in Calaveras County, where nearly 5,000 customers were without power along Highway 4, stretching from the Arnold area to Forrest Meadows. That number has dropped to 35 along Indian Hills Road and Dozer Line in the Forest Meadows area. The company has not reported a cause but notes that a crew is on the scene assessing the situation. There is no restoration time.

The utility reports 68 customers out of the initial 104 customers along La Grange and Bonds Flat roads west of Lake Don Pedro remain without lights. There is no word on a cause or an estimated repair time.

Update at 2:15 p.m.: The power has been restored to 135 customers in an outage in the Glencoe area stretching to Wilseyville.

The company has given an estimated time of repair of 3:30 p.m. for 286 customers off Highway 26 near the La Contenta Golf Course in Valley Springs, along New Hogan Dam and Vista Del Largo Drive, without lights due to damage to a power pole. Nearby in Jenny Lind, 42 customers are also without due to a downed power line along Jenny Lind Road.

Update at 1:30 p.m.: A major outage in Calaveras County as 4,961 PG&E customers are without power along Highway 4 stretching from the Arnold area to Forrest Meadows. The company reports a crew is on the scene assessing the situation but no restoration time has yet been given. The lights are out for another 53 customers near Mountain Ranch along Rimrock Valley and Swiss Ranch roads. In Valley Springs, off Highway 26, another 286 customers near the La Contenta Golf Course in Valley Springs along New Hogan Dam and Vista Del Largo Drive are without lights due to damage to a power pole.  Off Jesus Maria Road on Hidden Pine Lane another 15 customers are in the dark. The company has crews assessing the situation at these sites but no estimated time of repair has been given.

In Tuolumne County, 27 customers in the Phoenix Lake-Cedar Ridge area on Old Oak Ranch Road have no electricity. Outages are impacting 13 in the Twain Harte area off Highway 108 along Tuolumne Road North near Cedar Springs Road; 38 in the Groveland area between Hells Hollow and Wagner Ridge roads off Highway 120. Crew are assessing these outages and no restoration time has been given by the company.

Additionally, crews have made some progress. An outage in the Glencoe area stretching to Wilseyville originally involving  338 customers has dropped to 135 along Highway 26, Woodhouse Mine and Stanley roads.

Update at 1 p.m.: PG&E has made some progress. The lights are back on for 104 customers along La Grange and Bonds Flat roads west of Lake Don Pedro.

There are new outages in the Glencoe area stretching to Wilseyville, 338 customers are without lights along Highway 26, Woodhouse Mine and Stanley roads. Also off Highway 26, another 40 customers near the La Contenta Golf Course in Valley Springs along Old Creek Drive are in the dark. The company has crews assessing the situation at both sites but no estimated time of repair has yet been given.

Original post at 10:25 a.m.: Sonora, CA — As the latest storm system arrives in the Mother Lode, packing gusty winds, PG&E is already dealing with power outages.

Late in the 9 a.m. hour the utility reported that 104 customers lost power along La Grange and Bonds Flat roads west of Lake Don Pedro. As the root cause has yet to be determined, so does an estimated time for completion of repairs.
