Twain Harte Stabbing Suspect Located In Nevada

Twain Harte, CA — Over the weekend, a man wanted into connection to an August 30 stabbing in Twain Harte was arrested in a neighboring state.

32-year-old John Paul Schowachert was being sought in connection to the stabbing of 46-year-old Shane Mackie in the 28000 block of Italian Bar Road. The Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous tip that Schowachert was in Nye County, Nevada. Authorities in that area investigated the tip and took Schowachert into custody. He will be extradited to Tuolumne County to stand trial for attempted murder.

The Sheriff’s Office earlier stated that the victim, Mackie, was located in a vehicle at 7pm, August 30, after he had been stabbed several times in the chest and abdomen. He was later flown to a hospital in the Central Valley where he recovered from his injuries. The Sheriff’s Office stated that the victim seemed to be specifically targeted, but no additional information has been released at this time.
