Update: Sonora Roadway Reopened After Crash

Update at 5:15 p.m.: The Sonora Police Department reports that Hope Lane has reopened after a two-vehicle crash shut the roadway down. It took tow crews about 45 minute to clear the wreckage and debris. During that time, the SPD had asked motorists to avoid the area as officers were turning traffic around causing delays during the evening commute. No additional detail have been released by the SPD regarding what caused the collision or whether anyone was injured.

Original post at 4:05 p.m.: Sonora, CA — Sonora Police officers are on the scene of an accident that has closed a downtown roadway and causing delays for the evening commute.

The wreck happened just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Hope Lane and East Jackson Street. Officers are directing traffic as Hope Lane has been shut down as tow crews work to remove the wreckage and debris.

Traffic is getting backed up and the SPD is asking motorists to avoid the area if possible. There is no word on injuries at this time. We will pass along more information as soon as it comes into the news center.
