Update: High Country Snow Closes Passes

Update at 8:10am: Highway 120 Tioga Pass is back open this morning. Highway 4 Ebbetts Pass and Highway 108 Sonora Pass remain closed, according to Caltrans.

Original story posted at 6:40am: Mother Lode mountain passes are closed this morning due snow in the high country.

Highway 108 Sonora Pass is closed near Kennedy Meadows, Highway 4 Ebbetts Pass is closed near the Mt. Reba turnoff and Highway 120 Tioga Pass is closed at Crane Flat.  It is unclear when the passes will re-open. The Associated Press reports that a cool weather system dropped rain, hail and snow across several areas of Northern California yesterday afternoon. Several ski resorts around Lake Tahoe reported snow on the slopes. Up to three inches of snow could fall, according to the National Weather Service, before the wet weather exits late tonight.
