Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Bust

Sonora, CA — A man pulled over by a Tuolumne County Sheriff’s deputy for a vehicle violation now faces drug charges.

50-year-old Robert Cottrell of Angels Camp was pulled over while driving a Chevy S10 pickup truck with expired registration. After questioning Cottrell, the deputy discovered he was in possession of 3.16 grams of methamphetamine. The Sheriff’s Office reports that Cottrell stated that he uses the methamphetamine as a currency for trade, to pay for property and services. Cottrell was booked into Tuolumne County Jail on charges related to possession and transportation of a controlled substance for sale.

Cottrell was pulled over on Highway 108 near Jamestown.
