Copperopolis, CA — The CHP reports that a 20-year-old from Copperopolis tragically died in a vehicle accident on Highway 4 near Bonanza Mine Way.
It happened Saturday just after 3am. Colby W. Westberg was traveling westbound on Highway 4 when he apparently drifted onto the shoulder, over-corrected, and rolled into the eastbound lane. Westberg was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
CHP Officer Rebecca Myers says the crash is still under investigation and it remains unknown if drugs or alcohol could have been a factor in the incident.
