Update: Mountain Lion Sighting Near Columbia Elementary

Update at 2:45pm: Students at Columbia Elementary are no longer required to shelter in place due to the reported mountain lion sighting earlier this afternoon. However, outdoor activity will be limited to the children being picked up by parents and the buses. Fish and Wildlife officials remain on scene.

Original post at 2pm: Columbia, CA — Students at Columbia Elementary school are staying inside today due to a reported mountain lion sighting near the campus.

The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office reports that Department of Fish and Wildlife officials are on scene to make sure the area is safe before lifting the lockdown status. We’ll pass along more information as it becomes available. The sighting was reported during the noon hour.
