Crash Leads To Child Endangerment Arrest

Angels Camp, CA — Two people were flown to hospitals following a single vehicle crash in Calaveras County Tuesday evening, and the driver has been arrested.

The CHP reports that 31-year-old Tyler Nichols of Jackson was driving on Riata Way north of Tapadero Street when he lost control of his 2003 Saturn Ion while trying to negotiate a curve. The vehicle went off the road and hit a tree. Nichols suffered minor to moderate injuries and was flown to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto for treatment. His four year-old son who was in the right rear seat suffered reported major injuries and was flown to UC Davis Medical Center.

The CHP reports that Nichols was later arrested for suspicion of DUI resulting in major injuries and for child endangerment. The crash occurred at 6:20pm.
