Sunnyvale Man Killed In Tuolumne County Crash

Tuolumne County, CA — The CHP has released new information about a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Saturday morning on Highway 120.

An unidentified 50-year-old man from Sunnyvale California was riding a 2015 BMW motorcycle eastbound on Highway 120 west of Jacksonville Road. He pulled the motorcycle into the westbound lane and started to pass a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta driven by 47-year-old John David Wagner of Jonesboro, Arkansas. However, as the Sunnyvale motorcyclist was next to the Volkswagen, Wagner also pulled into the westbound lane in hopes of passing a car in front of him. The Volkswagen and motorcycle collided, and the Sunnyvale man was ejected and died of injuries sustained.

Wagner pulled the Volkswagen over to the westbound side until emergency crews arrived on scene. The CHP reports that drugs or alcohol are not believed to have been a factor in the incident. The crash occurred at 7:30am. The Sunnyvale man’s name will be released by law enforcement officials after they have been able to notify all next of kin.
