Update: Air, Ground Responding To Fire Off Hwy 108 Near Obyrnes Ferry

Update at 2:03 p.m.: PG&E is currently estimating that about 140 customers in the area of a three-acre vegetation fire off Highway 108 by Obyrnes Ferry Road will get their power back by 3:30 p.m.

Update at 1:10 p.m.: CHP reports that it has re-opened both lanes of Highway 108 near a three-acre vegetation fire by Obyrnes Ferry Road units are still working on. About 140 PG&E customers remain out of power in the area. PG&E was reported to be on the scene. Firefighters did spot a tree in a nearby power line when they arrived at the incident.

Update at 12:55 p.m. The forward rate of spread has stopped on a three-acre vegetation fire off Highway 108 near Obyrnes Ferry Road. According to CAL Fire, and a retardant line is now around the blaze. When firefighters arrived on scene they spotted a tree into a nearby power line and officials are investigating whether this is what ignited it.

Update at 12:33 p.m.: CAL Fire reports that PG&E is on the scene to address some live powerlines down over a metal fence in the area of a three-acre vegetation fire described as being on the northwest side of Highway 108 near Obyrnes Ferry Road. About 140 customers in the area are currently without power. CHP has the highway between J59 and Obyrnes Ferry Road under one-way traffic control.

Update at 12:24 p.m.: A vegetation fire on the northwest side of Highway 108 near Obyrnes Ferry Road is currently being described by CAL Fire dispatch as three acres in size with forward progress slowed. Resources are still responding to the scene.

Highway 108 between J59 and Obrynes Ferry Road remains closed but the CHP reports that the eastbound lane may be opening shortly.

Original Post at 12 p.m.: Jamestown, CA — If you hear planes overheard, Columbia air and ground resources are responding to a report of a vegetation fire off Highway 108 on the northwest side near Obyrnes Ferry Road west of Jamestown.

It is also possible that some power lines may be down. Fire officials requested a temporary closure of Highway 108 between J59 and Obrynes Ferry Road and the CHP Sonora Unit confirms the highway is being shut down. Please be careful in that area if you are traveling through. We will bring you more details as they become available.
