CHP ID’s Those Involved In Highway 4 Crash

Bear Valley, CA — The CHP has identified the two individuals from San Andreas who suffered major injuries in a solo vehicle crash in Calaveras County.

The CHP reports 74-year-old Veronica Pargett was driving a 2008 Pontiac eastbound on Highway 4 near Bear Valley around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, when for unknown reasons she allowed the vehicle to drift off the roadway. Officer Toby Butzler recounts, “She made a hard turn and lost control of the vehicle. It went off the roadway, where it overturned completely and as it came back on its wheels, it then struck the passenger side onto a tree.” He adds that Pargett and her passenger, John Pargett, 80, were trapped inside the vehicle. Emergency crews were able to free them from the wreckage.

The couple was flown via two air ambulances to Sutter Roseville Medical Center. Alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the crash.
