Update: Fire Resources Respond To Smoke Near Lake Alpine

Update 5:05 pm.: According to Stanislaus National Forest spokesperson Rebecca Garcia, firefighters determined that smoke coming from a location between Lake Alpine and Spicer Reservoir may have been pile burning but not a wildfire. Resources have been called off.

Original Post 4:22 p.m.: Stanislaus National Forest, CA — The Stanislaus National Forest has requested additional resources for a vegetation fire initially reported as being somewhere between Lake Alpine and Spicer Reservoir.

According to Stanislaus National Forest spokesperson Rebecca Garcia, units initially made seasonal response to a report of smoke but additional resources have been requested, including from Columbia airbase. No further details are yet available. We will update this story as it develops.
