Signals To Halt Traffic At Busy Sonora Intersection

Sonora, CA — Motorists will face delays and a detour as a section of Standard Road will shut down at the intersection of Tuolumne Road at the beginning of next week.

Preliminary work on the traffic light installment already began April 19, but the next phase will require a complete shutdown of Standard Road from Tuolumne Road to just before Camage Avenue. The closure will run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, June 6 and 7.

A detour has been set up along Nugget Boulevard and Camage Avenue for motorists to get around the closure. However, travelers may want to avoid the area completely as there could be delays. While Tuolumne Road will remain open, drivers could face delays of up to five minutes. Standard Park will also be open to the public through its northern entrance, according to county officials.

George Reed, Inc. was hired by the county to install a traffic signal at the intersection.
