Vision Sonora Project On Council Agenda

Sonora, CA — The Sonora City Council will talk about whether to seek grant funding for the Red Church Pedestrian and Traffic Improvement Project.

The estimated $695,000 project is part of the Vision Sonora Plan. Potential funding is available through the State of California’s Active Transportation Program. The proposed project calls for landscaped pedestrian bulb-outs, sidewalk replacements, and curb ramps along North Washington Street at the Snell Street intersection. It is also designed to improve traffic operations and safety.

Because the applications are due June 15th, the city staff does not have adequate time and resources to prepare a grant application. At Monday’s meeting the city will decide whether to pay the firm Kimley-Horn and Associates $5,290 to prepare and submit it.

The Council also plans to continue discussions about new defensible space rules and regulations, and decide whether to reappoint Gary Anderson to the Planning Commission. Monday’s meeting starts at 5pm at City Hall.
