Power Outages And School Delays

Sonora, CA — Several people are waking up without electricity this morning following a storm system that passed through the area bringing low snow.

PGE reports that 55 people are without electricity in the area of Sonora Meadows in the Phoenix Lake region. A downed power line was located, and restoration is anticipated by around 8:30am. Closer to the community of Tuolumne, 87 people are without power due to broken power pole in the area of Rainbow Road and Eastview Road. Those customers should be restored by 10am. In the Willow Springs area, nearly 50 are without power due to a downed power line. That area should be restored by around noon.

Allow yourself extra time when traveling this morning. Several cars became stuck in the snow last night.

This morning there is a tree down across Twain Harte Drive, between Highland Drive and Blackhawk. The Twain Harte Fire Department reports that it is on some utility lines so Twain Harte Drive will likely remain closed in the area until around 9am. You will need to find an alternate route.

Several schools are starting late this morning. We have everything posted on the school delays page on myMotherLode.com. We’ll be updating it as more information comes into the news center.
