Calaveras Supervisors Buck Trend And Choose Edson

San Andreas, CA — The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors have selected Cliff Edson to continue to serve as Chairman in 2016.

Traditionally the Supervisors have used a rotating system in selecting a board chair, but the minutes from yesterday’s meeting show that Edson was re-appointed with a 3-2 vote. The move will allow Edson to continue in a leadership role through the ongoing Butte Fire Recovery efforts. Voting in favor were Supervisors Steve Kearney, Michael Oliveira and Edson, and opposed were Chris Wright and Debbie Ponte. Supervisor Wright was then selected, with a 5-0 vote, to continue as Vice Chair.

In other business yesterday, the Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to continue the local state of emergency related to the Butte Fire, as well as a separate emergency declaration in response to high tree mortality.
