Several Issues Face Tuolumne County Supervisors

Sonora, CA — A lengthy agenda will meet the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors during its first meeting of 2016.

Early in the meeting the Supervisors will talk about the planned Columbia Dollar General store. The Board will schedule a future public hearing and lay out the procedures for discussing the appeal made over the Tuolumne County Planning Commission’s denial of the project.

The Board will also vote on approving a roughly $3.1-million architectural services contract for the new county jail, and give direction to staff about the cost and scope of the overall project.

On the issue of marijuana, the Supervisors will decide whether to send an ordinance to the planning commission that would amend a Tuolumne County ordinance code to allow a limited amount of medical marijuana cultivation by qualified patients and caregivers.

In addition, the Supervisors will discuss a local tree mortality removal plan, and submit comments to the Stanislaus  National Forest regarding the Rim Fire Restoration Draft Environmental Impact Statement.

The Board will also pick a Chair and Vice Chair for 2016.

Tuesday’s meeting starts at 9am in the Supervisors meeting room in downtown Sonora.
