Chicken Ranch Rancheria Hosts Community Dinner

The Chicken Ranch Rancheria of Mi-Wuk Indians of California will host a free Community Christmas Dinner later today from 4:30 PM through 8 PM.

Jamie Lloyd, Marketing Manager of Chicken Ranch Casino, was Friday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

“It is the Tribe’s way of just giving back to the community, as a whole,” said Lloyd. “We feed everybody a nice warm meal that includes all the works.”

This is a family event as the kids will get to visit with Santa, face painting will be offered and a balloon man will provide plenty of entertainment by creating balloon animals. Prizes such as bicycles will be given away to some lucky children.

Lloyd worked with the Tuolumne County School District to make sure that flyers were distributed to hundreds of families in every part of the county.

It is estimated that 1,200 individuals will participate in tonight’s event. It is open to anyone and everyone in Tuolumne County (and beyond). Preparations for such a large free event have been in the works for the past few months.

Reservations are not needed. A tent has been set up outside to keep people out of any rain, the food will be served to the public in the spacious Bingo Hall, that has been transformed into a full Christmas setting dining room.

The casino itself is located in a separate section of the building and is not a part of this overall community dinner environment.

According to Lloyd, there is plenty of parking with golf carts decorated in Christmas lights that will be transporting people from their cars to the event and eventually back again.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45 AM.
