Sierra Nevada Winter Storm Watch For Thursday

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Sierra Nevada, from Thursday afternoon through late Thursday night.

Another winter weather system will bring a period of moderate to heavy snow and gusty winds to the Sierra Nevada beginning Thursday afternoon and continuing overnight into early Friday.

Total snow accumulations will range from four to six inches around 5000 feet with up to a foot of snow at the higher elevations.

Travelers should be prepared for potential delays due to the inclement weather. Snow, gusty winds and chain controls are likely.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
