Update: HWY4 Reopens After Pile-up

Update at 2:25pm: The CHP reports the roadway has been cleared of debris and has reopened.

Original Post at 2:10pm: Angels Camp, CA — Emergency crews are on the scene of a multiple-vehicle accident that has closed a section of Highway 4 east of Stallion Way in Calaveras County.

An air ambulance is heading to the scene with reports of one person having moderate and another suffering minor injuries.

The CHP reports the collision occurred as officers were directing traffic on the highway around a tow crew, which had been working to pull up a vehicle that sometime the night before had gone down an embankment.

CHP spokesperson Rebecca Myers says, “Another accident took place between three to five vehicles. The roadway is going to be blocked for a while.”

The highway is shut down east of Stallion Way with officers diverting traffic to Pool Station Road. There is no estimated time as to when the roadway will reopened.
