Casino Seeks Nonprofits For Cash Grab

Tuolumne, CA — Casting superstitions aside, the number 13 should prove lucky, indeed, for ten yet-to-be-determined local nonprofit groups.

For the 13th year in a row, Black Oak Casino Resort will be heralding the winter holiday season by selecting ten nonprofit and/or charitable organizations based in Tuolumne and Calaveras counties to take part in its annual “Community Grab for Cash” on Thursday, Nov. 12. According to CEO Ron Patel, more than $15,000 was claimed between 11 organizations, bringing the event’s 12-year total to more than $150,000.

At the event, each of the selected groups will be able to designate one representative to climb into the casino’s “cash cube,” on a singular mission: to grab as much of the $5,000 worth of whirling currency inside as possible within a 30-second time-frame.

For the resort, Patel explains, the event is a timely way to celebrate the season by giving back to the community, adding, “It’s a fun opportunity for our local non-profit organizations to get some much needed financial support.” Over the years, he reports that numerous causes have taken part in the grab, which serves as a way to immediately augment their funds.

Interested nonprofits have until Friday, Oct. 23 at 5 p.m. to submit a one-page letter to Black Oak Casino Resort outlining the organization’s mission statement, size, constituents served, and funding needs. Letters should be sent to Dee Baldwin in the Black Oak Casino Marketing Department at dbaldwin@blackoakcasino.com; by fax to 209 928-9301; or mailed to the resort at 19400 Tuolumne Road, Tuolumne, CA 95379.
