Update: Wreck Ignites Vegetation Fire

Update at 6:50pm:  Cal Fire reports no flames were sparked from a pickup versus tree crash in Calaveras County. The call initially came in from a resident stating the wreck had ignited a vegetation fire, but once fire crews arrived on scene no flames were found. The CHP reports, luckily, there were no injuries involved in the accident.

Original Post at 6:20 pm: Calaveras County, CA — Firefighters are heading to a vegetation fire in Calaveras County sparked by truck versus tree crash.

The CHP reports a pickup truck has gone off the roadway and hit a tree catching nearby vegetation on fire. The accident happened around 6:15 p.m. in the 11,100 block of Hogan Dam Road at the Hunt Road intersection northwest of Copperopolis. The CHP has no word on injuries. Cal Fire has no information yet on the size or rate of spread. We will bring you more information as soon as it comes into the newsroom.
