Yosemite Campers Killed By Tree Limb Identified

Yosemite, CA – Mariposa County officials have released new details surrounding the deaths of two minors sleeping in a tent at a popular Yosemite National Park campground.

The two campers killed by a falling tree limb were teenage boys. The Mariposa County Sheriff’s office reports they were both 14-years-old and from Orange County. They are identified as Justin Lee of Irvine and Dragon Kim of Tustin.  The County’s Coroner office revealed they were killed instantly and it appears the boys were crushed to death.

As previously reported, the incident happened last Friday around 5 a.m. in the Upper Pines Campground in Yosemite Valley. Park Rangers responded to the campground to provide medical assistance, but both of the juveniles were deceased upon arrival.

What caused the limb to fall has yet to be determined. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
