City Will Review Townhome Plan And Garbage Rates

Sonora, CA — The Sonora City Council will discuss a long planned townhome subdivision, and review garbage rates.

Tonight, the Council will vote whether to give the developer of the planned Shaws Flat Village subdivision an extension to get the project off the ground. The project was approved by the city in 2003, and called for 20 townhomes. However, the property changed hands in 2005, and the following year, the city approved an expansion to 24 townhomes.

The recession then hit, and the project was delayed. The city’s approval is effective through this coming November, but the developer, listed as Steve Schoennnauer, is asking that it be extended until 2017.

In addition, the Council will vote tonight whether to allow Waste Management to increase refuse collection rates by 2.48%, tied to the Consumer Price Index. Tonight’s meeting starts at 5pm at City Hall.
