Mother Lode Fair This Friday Through Sunday

The Mother Lode Fair in Sonora is ready for fun from Friday through Sunday.

Stacey Dodge, Mother Lode Fair CEO and Manager, was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

Dodge is excited for this year’s fair and hopes that returning crowds will see everything that makes the local fair great.

“Some small things should make a big difference,” said Dodge. “Examples include a Family and Kid Zone, entertainment from musical acts to a hypnotist, rides, food, crafts, animals, shows at the Grandstands and the annual Livestock Auction this Saturday at 5 PM.”

Dodge says it is important that Tuolumne County retain a county fair as it helps bring the entire community together for three days of activity.

The Fair began in 1889 as the Tuolumne County Fair & Horse Show on Racetrack Road, then reinvented itself in 1938 as the ‘Mother Lode Fair’. The Fair is now situated on 25 acres, south of downtown Sonora, on Stockton Road (Hwy 49).

This year’s theme is “Arts and Ag”.

The Fair will run Friday and Saturday from noon through midnight and noon through 11 pm on Sunday.

Musical entertainment this year includes Tiffany Lorraine, Stephan Hogan, Shery and the Psychodelics, Harvest Gold Band, Uplands Drive, The Honey Shots and Rockin Rick Rhythm Wranglers.

The grandstand arena will feature Monster Trucks on Friday, truck and tractor-pulls on Saturday and the popular Destruction Derby on Sunday.

Free shuttle service will be provided from the Junction Shopping Center and in front of Big 5 Sporting Goods for all three days of the fair. The shuttles are highly recommended as local traffic near the fairgrounds will be busy all weekend.
