House Sitters Steal From Home

Mariposa County, CA — Imagine hiring someone to watch your house while on vacation and then see them stealing items from your home on surveillance video.

It happened to residents in Mariposa County who had hired an Oakhurst couple to stay at their home while they went on a 15-day vacation in May. Upon their return, they noticed items missing from the house and contacted the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Department. Investigators looked at footage from home security cameras that showed the housesitters, 49-year-old Sunday Robesky, and 44-year-old Christopher Robesky, loading items from the home into their vehicles. Additionally, the video shows Sunday covering and uncovering the cameras several times, according to detectives.

Investigators recently arrested the Robeskys at an Oakhurst home without incident. Both face charges of burglary, grand theft and conspiracy. Christopher has two additional charges of assault and battery, but Sheriff’s officials have not released any further information regarding those charges. His bail is set at $150,000; hers is $50,000.
