No Injuries In Crash That Ignited Fire

Valley Springs, CA — The CHP has released new information about yesterday’s crash in Calaveras County that ignited a 12-acre fire.

It happened at around 2:15pm on Highway 12 near Southworth Road. The CHP reports that 66-year-old Donna Mitchell of Lockeford was driving a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer eastbound and she allowed the SUV to drift into the opposing traffic lane. She then overcorrected back to the right and hit a PG&E power pole. The pole sheared at the base, and it ignited a vegetation fire. Highway 12 was closed while firefighters extinguished the fire, and PG&E responded to fix the pole. Mitchell reported no injuries as a result of the crash.
