Sonora Picks New Fire Chief

Sonora, CA — The City of Sonora has picked a new Fire Chief.

Aimee New has served with the City of Lodi Fire Department for the past 19 years, and the last six as a Division Chief. She is familiar with the region, as she had attended Columbia College and began her career serving five years with the CAL Fire Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit.

City of Sonora Administrator Tim Miller reports that Chief New will be formally introduced at the April 6th City Council meeting, where she will take the oath of office. The city notes that New is married and has a nine-year-old step son.

She replaces former Fire Chief Mike Barrows who retired this past May. Mike Noonan had been serving as Interim Chief in Barrows absence.
