Sacramento, CA — California continues its downward trend dipping from an unemployment rate of 6.9% in January to 6.7% in February.
The Employment Development Department report released Friday shows the state added 29,400 jobs in February, bringing the overall number of jobs added since the economic recovery began in February 2010 to 1.8 million.
In Tuolumne County, the report shows a plunge from 8.4% in January to 8% last month. While in Calaveras County, the figures dropped to 7.1% in February from 7.6% in January.
The last time the unemployment rate in California was 6.7 percent was June 2008. The sector with the largest increase in jobs was leisure and hospitality posting adding 12,600 jobs. Government jobs had biggest decrease, down 8,400 jobs. The number unemployed people in the state fell by a total of 42,000 and is now less than 1.3 million.
The national unemployment rate also decreased last month to 5.5 percent.
