Twain Harte Woman Killed From Crash

Twain Harte, CA — The California Highway Patrol reports the passenger in a vehicle involved in an accident late last week has now died from injuries sustained.

The fatal victim is identified as 84-year-old Celea Janka of Twain Harte. She was riding in a 2004 Audi driven by 90-year-old Kazimierz Janka, also of Twain Harte. Kazimierz Janka attempted to turn the Audi from Highway 108 onto Twain Harte Drive, but failed to notice an oncoming vehicle in the opposing traffic lane, driven by 44-year-old Lisa Sandberg of Pinecrest. The two vehicles collided. The fatal victim was taken by air ambulance to a hospital in Modesto, where she later passed away.

The CHP notes that alcohol was not a contributing factor to the collision.
