Several Items Await T.U.D. Board

Sonora, CA — The T.U.D. Board of Directors will hear an update on water supply, and talk about rules regarding board members speaking in public.

Several items will face the board when it meets on Tuesday at 5:30pm. There will be an update provided on the surface water supply, from an operational standpoint. The Board will also here the most recent quarterly finance report, and discuss a software conversion project.

Towards the end of the meeting, the Board will talk about a section in the T.U.D. Directors handbook that has to deal with board members speaking on behalf of the district. Board member John Maciel has requested discussion and clarification.

Section 3.05 reads, “When Directors are asked for the District’s position on an issue, the response should reflect the position of the District Board as a whole. If the Board has not taken a position, then a Director shall not comment for the Board. The Board has only taken a position on an issue when the Board has considered and then taken action on a position. A Director may clarify his/her individual position on an issue if requested to do so. The official spokesperson for the District is the President of the Board or their designee.”

Additionally, the Board will decide whether it wants to make any changes to the times and dates that meetings are held. The first meeting of the month is typically held 2pm, and the second meeting at 5:30pm.

The T.U.D. Board is also holding a special meeting today. As reported previously, it is entirely to talk about priorities for 2015.
