Lie Detectors for Paroled Sex Offenders

Sacramento, CA – The state is taking new precautions when it comes to paroled sex offenders. For the first time, those offenders will take periodic lie-detector tests.  The move is in response to several high-profile cases involving parolees who raped and killed.

Additionally, there are new requirements for those parolees to take part in specially designed treatment programs.  In the past, the state required that only high-risk offenders undergo treatment.  There will also be more high-risk assessments tests given in an attempt to gauge each offender’s likelihood of committing a new crime.
