Watch Out For Holiday Scrooges

Sonora, CA – Do not let a Grinch steal your Christmas.  Tis the holiday shopping season and just as many of you are hitting the stores so are the thieves.

The Sonora Police Department warns these nasty scrooges do not care if it is day or night when it comes to gifting themselves,  so do not help them out by leaving your car unlock or valuable items in plain view while parked at the mall.

The SPD offers these additional tips to keep your holiday jolly:

• Lock your vehicle when you leave it unattended, even for a few seconds.
• Always take valuable items with you or place them in the trunk, or another secure area inside your vehicle where they are not visible.
• Always park in a well light area at night.
• Never leave your keys in the ignition or your vehicle.
• Never leave your vehicle running and unattended.
• Always report any suspicious persons who appear to be looking into vehicles or watching people coming and going from their vehicles.
• Always report anyone who is tampering with a vehicle.
