Shop Local, Buy Local, Think Local

“Shop Local Saturday” will take place this year on Saturday, November 29th.

Michael Ayala, Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, was Thursday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

Nationally speaking, the Saturday after “Black Friday” is called “Shop Small Saturday”.

The TC Chamber agrees that the majority of their members are already “small” and are instead focused on reminding Mother Lode residents to remember the importance of shopping locally.

According to Ayala, the focus of shopping locally should not be limited to just November 29th.

“Support Tuolumne County, shop local and do business here,” says Ayala. “The Chamber is about local business and local jobs.”

The theme this year is “Shop Local, Buy Local, Think Local”.

According to Ayala, this campaign is also designed to support local business just before the national focus on the once popular “Cyber Monday” (the first Monday after Thanksgiving).

The Chamber’s position is that internet shopping during the Holiday season hurts local business just as much as shopping out-of-town.

Mother Lode residents are encouraged to look at the chamber website. The information can be found at http://www.tcchamber.com.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
