Sonora, CA — Sierra Pacific Industries is starting up a prescribed burn this week on its property within the Rim Fire burn area.
Piles of debris left from salvage logging will be burned near Woods Ridge and Cherry Lake. SPI says burning of these salvage logging residue piles is a necessary part of the company’s continuing regeneration effort to restore areas impacted by the Rim Fire.
Smoke may be visible in communities near the prescribed burning.
