Weekend Forest Burn

Stanislaus National Forest, CA – The cool and possibly wet weather could allow forest officials to ignite a prescribe burn as early as this weekend in the Stanislaus National Forest. The Machine and Handpile Prescribed Burn will be located throughout the Mi-Wok Ranger District including areas of Sugar Pine, Mi-Wuk Village, Sierra Village and Long Barn.

Fire crews will use low-intensity fire to burn 132 acres of piled materials. Smoke may be visible from Highway 108, but fire officials ask that the public not call in any smoke seen in the skies directly above the prescribe burn area, as it is just a prescribed fire. Fire officials say this burn will continue throughout the fall and into spring as conditions allow.
