Let There Be Light

Angels Camp, CA – A grant will be used to light up the Mark Twain Hall at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds.  The $18,000 grant comes from the Calaveras Public Power Authority.

Initially, fairground officials had applied for a grant to get an air conditioning unit in the hall, but after an energy audit of the building last spring decided to go for a lighting upgrade instead.

“There was significant cost savings per month by changing out our light fixtures,” says Fairground Manager Laurie Giannini.  “Also, by doing so, it will actually drop the temperature of that building in the summer by ten to fifteen degrees, which is huge.”

Giannini says the current lights have been in the building for nearly 50 years.  Gold Electric of Murphys will be installing the new lighting this fall.
