Improvements To Pinecrest Lake

Pinecrest, CA — Several large trucks and equipment will be visible at Pinecrest Lake over the next month.

The Forest Service reports that Pinecrest Beach and the Pinecrest Day Use Area will receive an upgrade to enhance the beach and lake bed. Alluvial sands will be brought in from the Stanislaus River to create a smoother surface. The project also calls for removing rocks, boulders and tree stumps.

“The beach areas will not appear to be significantly altered, since native material is being placed,” says Tim Hughes, Facility Engineer with the Stanislaus National Forest. “The biggest difference to the public will be the recreation experience.”

The project is funded by PG&E as part of the requirements of its Federal Energy Regulatory Commission License. The work will be conducted by Mountain Methods of Tuolumne, and it is expected to run from September 29 – October 31.
