Rain Slows King Fire

El Dorado County, CA — After some rainfall yesterday, the King Fire is now 68% contained and 96,004 acres.

There was very minimal growth on the fire, situated east of Sacramento. At one point yesterday, there was a flash flood warning for the area, and it expired last night.

Yesterday morning there were around 12,000 homes that were still considered threatened, but the number is now around 300. Around 8,000 firefighters have been assisting in the fight, including several from the Tuolumne-Calaveras region.

37-year-old Wayne Allen Huntsman has been charged with arson in connection to the fire. He is being held in jail on $10-million bail.
