Pedestrian Hit By Truck

Jamestown, CA — A Jamestown man was flown to a hospital out of the area after being hit by a truck on Highway 108.

CHP Officer Nick Norton says the incident happened during the seven o’clock hour last night, near the intersection of 5th Avenue. He says 52-year-old Nicholas Cortez of Jamestown was walking eastbound on Highway 108, just to the left of the white line. A truck, driven by 40-year-old Herbert Lawson of Sonora, struck Cortez. Lawson told the CHP he did not see Cortez walking in the roadway. Cortez suffered a broken leg and several lacerations.

Officer Norton says the crash remains under investigation, and they are still reviewing several witness statements.
