Calaveras High School Students Arrested For Gun On Bus

Calaveras County, CA — Two high school students were arrested after a gun was found in a school bus this morning at Calaveras High School.

The Sherriff’s Office was notified of the situation at around 8:10AM.

Sgt. Anthony Eberhardt says, “The bus driver was notified, and held the students on the bus until the Sheriff’s Deputies arrived, about three minutes later. Deputies made contact with a 17 year old student. The deputies searched the student’s belongings, and found a loaded gun. The gun was immediately confiscated, and the male was placed under arrest. Deputies learned that a second male subject had originally brought the gun on the school bus. Deputies identified him as well, as a 15 year old student, and arrested him for his involvement.”

Sgt. Eberhardt says it is not believed that the two students had a conceived plan to hurt any students or staff. The case is under investigation. It is also not immediately clear what type of gun the students had. There were no injuries.
