Supervisors Will Talk About Calaveras Airport

San Andreas, CA — The Calaveras County Supervisors will talk about planned improvements to the Calaveras Airport.

At Tuesday’s meeting, the Board will submit a revised application to the FAA for grant funding to make needed electrical and lighting repairs. The county initially requested a $600K grant. However, after bids were received, it became clear the county would need closer to $700K. The county is now seeking a $699K grant to cover some of the excess costs.

The initial electrical system at the airport, located in San Andreas, was installed when it was built in 1981, and county officials say it is in need of several safety improvements. Tuesday’s meeting starts at 9am at the Government Center in San Andreas.
