Power Restored To Most Customers

Sonora, CA — PG & E reports some of the lights are back on for all but 47 customers after a SUV smashed into a power pole causing an outage in downtown Sonora.

The crash happened at 5:30 pm on Stewart Street near Gold Street leaving 570 customers without power. The pole, which is sheared off at its bottom, remains leaning over the SUV as PG & E crews use a cherry picker to make their repairs.

Police say Stewart Street will remain closed from William to Gold streets until those repairs are completed.  PG&E estimates the power will be restored to the rest of the customers by 3 am.
