Brown Calls For Scaled Down Water Bond

Sacramento, CA — In an e-mail to campaign supporters, Governor Jerry Brown referred to the state’s proposed $11 billion water bond as “pork laden.”

The bond referenced was approved by lawmakers in 2009, and is tentatively scheduled to go before voters in November. Governor Brown says he would like to see a roughly $6 billion water bond. His proposal calls for around $2 billion for new storage projects, $1.1 billion for watershed protection, $750 million for regional water reliability, and $450 million for water recycling projects.
