Berryhill: Blindsided By Mokelumne River Bill

Sonora, CA — A controversial proposal to designate the Mokelumne River as “Wild and Scenic” is a topic Senator Tom Berryhill will talk about on Mother Lode Views.

Berryhill, a Republican who represents Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties, says he was “blindsided” when the bill was introduced by Senator Loni Hancock of Berkeley. It has been endorsed by the Calaveras County Supervisors, but criticized by many water districts. Berryhill has been an outspoken critic.

The Senator will also give an update on water bond negotiations, his plan to introduce CEQA reform legislation next year, and talk about why he would like to see “enterprise zones” in the foothills and Central Valley.
